I’ve found that, in Life, you gotta Smile.
And if I’d counted the number of times that people have told me that I’m “always smiling,” “always happy” or questioned “how am I always so darn positive??,” well, I’d really be up on my multiplication tables. The trouble is, though, I’ve never really been that good at math…
But I’m pretty dang awesome at enjoying Life, if I do say so myself…
Loved ones, family, friends, an amazing glass of red wine, a dinner that tickles your taste buds, a great belly laugh, random kindness (given or begotten), a giggling scream as you cascade down that roller coaster’s first big descent, to give Love and to feel Love, a smile from a passing stranger, the feeling after an amazing workout, a joke that makes you laugh hours (or days) later… These are some of my favorite things.
I suppose that I’ve always felt that Life is meant to be enjoyed.
I’ve also found that God doesn’t ever put more on your plate than He knows you can handle. I’m reminded of a shirt I saw at the gym once: “Pain is weakness leaving the body.” And that’s so very true. It’s what makes us wiser and more able to Smile, looking at what we’ve overcome and accomplished.
I’ve learned, grown, laughed, enjoyed, cried and morphed into someone that I’m happy with… It’s been a journey through Life, sometimes painful and sometimes hysterically funny. I’m so very thankful for the Love I feel now. From my husband, Jake, who’s taught me more about Love, Life and Forgiveness than I ever could have imagined, to my Parents who have always opened their arms with Love, Kindness and Respect, to God, who Loves me unconditionally, gently guiding me through Life.
Cooking and enjoying food brings joy and laughter to my Life. It makes me Smile. And I just adore being around friends and family, enjoying food and friendship with the people I love. Life is to be enjoyed.
Life is short. Always believe in yourself. Break the rules. Forgive quickly. Kiss slowly. Love truly. Laugh uncontrollably. And never forget or regret anything that made (or makes) you Smile. I hope this blog, these recipes and my silly sense of humor makes YOU Smile.
